Job Description
We have an immediate opening for a Journeyman Millwright to join our Calgary Shop and Field Service team. Reporting to the Shop Supervisor the Journeyman Millwright is responsible for the assembly, repair, and overhaul of pumps, cyclones, valves, and other rotating mineral processing equipment.
The Role
Typical tasks include:
Disassemble and Inspect equipment upon arrival to help determine a suitable course of repair.
Install mechanical components, piping, and guards.
Liaise with engineer(s), management, and other trades colleagues.
Problem-solving mechanical issues with equipment to identify and rectify.
Perform Pneumatic and Hydro pressure testing of pumps and valves.
Install coupling, sheaves, and belt drives for rotating equipment.
Alignment of motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
Repair and installation of bearing assemblies.
Commissioning of pumps in the field.
Safe lifting and rigging of equipment including complex and tandem lifts.
Support customer field service requirements where required.
Safe driving and use of forklifts, cranes, and zoom boom.
Drives safety through a high level of attention to company safety policies.
Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
Complete all paperwork as required.
Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
Skills Required
Millwright certification with inter-provincial tickets.
Licensed journeyman in Alberta or Red Seal.
Minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience in assembly, repair, and overhaul of pumps and mechanical rotating equipment required.
Knowledge of submersible electric pumps is considered an asset.
Proven ability to work with Engineer drawings, precision measurement instruments, and wiring schematics.
Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment.
Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Exposure to Pump / Barge Systems, Slurry Pumps, Cyclone Clusters, and large fabrications will be a definite asset.
Customer-focused with a strong commitment to safety.
Work Environment
Physically demanding position working actively in a busy shop environment.
The position is typically day shift but may have non-standard hours of work including shift work between 8-12 hours depending on need and including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
Travel to customer sites required, including overnight out-of-town travel as needed to complete work.
Other Requirements:
Completion of safety training, adherence to all safety policies, and use of appropriate PPE required.
